Sustainability

Boart&Wire has made environmental sustainability one of the cornerstones of our industrial vision. Minimizing the environmental risk associated with our production activities is not only a responsibility but also a daily commitment, pursued through the adoption of the most rigorous international standards and full compliance with applicable regulations issued by the relevant authorities.

Our adherence to global best practices and the implementation of cutting-edge technological solutions allow us to limit the environmental impact of our manufacturing operations, reinforcing trust among local stakeholders, including local authorities and, importantly, our internal staff.

Our Integrated Management System for Environment, Health, and Safety is based on shared values and codified operational practices, with the goal of planning, monitoring, and continuously improving environmental performance. This system includes a clear definition of environmental targets and periodic monitoring of the results achieved, in order to implement corrective actions if necessary and promote continuous improvement. In this context, Boart&Wire has updated its management systems to ensure full compliance with ISO 14001 standards, demonstrating a concrete commitment to environmental protection.

RAW MATERIALS AND FINISHED PRODUCTS

Our products are mainly based on metal alloys and plastic materials, which, due to their intrinsic characteristics, are suitable for recovery and recycling. In line with circular economy principles, Boart&Wire has developed a diamond wire regeneration service that extends the product lifecycle and significantly reduces the volume of waste generated.

This virtuous approach, oriented towards sustainability, not only enhances the value of the resources used but also optimizes production processes, reducing the need for virgin raw materials.

ENERGY AND EMISSIONS

Energy efficiency is a strategic element of our environmental and industrial policy. Boart&Wire adopts a systemic and proactive approach to reduce the energy intensity of its activities and limit climate-altering emissions. This goal is pursued through continuous investments in advanced technologies, critical review of energy choices, and the development of structured improvement programs.

Over the years, the actions taken have shown tangible results in terms of reducing consumption and associated emissions, promoting more rational energy use. Future interventions, already planned, will focus on adopting increasingly efficient production systems and integrating renewable energy sources, with the goal of minimizing environmental impact and supporting the transition to low-carbon industrial models.

WASTE MANAGEMENT

Waste reduction and proper management are fundamental priorities in Boart&Wire’s environmental strategy. Our production processes are constantly optimized to limit waste and minimize the quantity of generated scraps, thanks to careful planning of raw material procurement, rationalization of formats, and implementation of reuse-oriented solutions.

Waste management — whether hazardous or non-hazardous, recyclable or non-recyclable — is carried out in compliance with current regulations, involving specialized and certified operators to ensure traceability, safety, and sustainability at every stage of the disposal cycle.

WATER RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

Boart&Wire is committed to preserving water resources through responsible and rational use of water. Production processes are designed to minimize potable water intake and prevent any dispersion. To this end, the company performs a detailed water balance with systematic monitoring of consumption and any losses.

The adoption of efficient technologies and practices enables sustainable water resource management, helping to reduce environmental impact and promote a company culture that values environmental protection.

LOGISTICS PROCESSES

Logistics is a strategic area for the efficiency and sustainability of our activities. Each year we handle large quantities of materials and components using multimodal transportation — by land, sea, and air — to supply our production lines, promote interconnection among Group sites, and ensure prompt service to our customers.

Boart&Wire manages its logistics flows with dual attention: efficiency in terms of time and cost, and reduction of environmental and climate footprint. We strive to optimize every stage of the supply chain, promoting synergies with logistics partners who share our sustainable vision and adopting low-impact environmental solutions in the ongoing search for improvement processes.

ENVIRONMENTAL LABELLING OF PACKAGING

In accordance with Italian environmental labeling regulations, Boart&Wire ensures full transparency in the management of packaging materials. Each element is correctly identified with codes that facilitate collection, recovery, recycling, and reuse activities, supporting those involved in the waste management chain.

This practice, beyond being a legal requirement, represents a concrete commitment to promoting a shared environmental culture that encourages virtuous behavior throughout the entire value chain.
